CV Design and Production

This post discusses the design and production of my CV. I created the CV in Adobe Indesign and wanted to design something that was clean, clear but also showed my eye for design. It was also important for me to keep the CV to one page which is common of many graphic design CV’s. In the CV i also wanted to incorporate the Brown Brick branding but most importantly sell myself. Finally it was important to keep the file size as low as possible so downloading the CV was a quick process.

Early CV idea:

The image above is an early design idea i came up with for a CV but ended up being too big in file size and would have cost too much in printing because of the dark brown background.

Final CV Design:

The final design is simple, structured and carries the brownbrick branding well. It is also a small file size making the process of downloading the CV from the brown brick website a quick one and finally it uses very little colour making the printing of the CV a lot cheaper.

CV’s for Designers – Research

“Your graphic design resume is going to be just as important as your portfolio, if not more important than your portfolio when it comes to job hunting. This is because most people will examine your resume before they open your portfolio book, meaning your resume is going to be your first impression! You have to remember that the people you will be sending your resume to go through tons of these every day so yours has to be immaculate and memorable, or they wont even bother looking at your portfolio.” The Graphic Design Resume Guide, You the Designer.com
